In January–March 2026, the pig population in Ukraine decreased by 2.6% compared with the same period of the previous year, reaching 4.49 million head.
This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service.
In particular, the industrial pig population increased by 8.8% compared with the first quarter of 2025, reaching 3.23 million head.
Meanwhile, in household farms, the pig herd decreased by 22.7% over the year, reaching 1.26 million head.
At the same time, the pig population remained stable compared with February of this year.
The State Statistics Service notes that the data are presented excluding the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and parts of the territories where hostilities are ongoing or have taken place.
As reported, as of April 1, the Unified State Register of Animals contained 159.68 thousand identified and registered head of commercial pigs.
