Composition

1 g of the drug contains the active substance: doxycycline hyclate (doxycycline) — 500 mg.

Pharmacological action

Doxycycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group. It blocks the attachment of aminoacyl tRNA to the acceptor site, which inhibits the attachment of new amino acids to the peptide chain and thus inhibits protein synthesis. The drug has a bacteriostatic effect on gram-positive microorganisms (Staphylococcus spp. and Strep-tococcus spp.) and grams of negative microorganisms (Actino-bacillus spp., Bordetella spp., Brachispira spp., Brucella spp., E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Leptospira spp., Ornithobacterium spp., Pasteurella multoci-da, Salmonella spp.), as well as mycoplasma (Mycoplasma spp.), rickettsia (Rickettsia spp.) and chlamydia (Chlamydia spp.).
After oral administration to animals, doxycycline is absorbed from the digestive tract by 93–100% and is quickly distributed throughout the body. A serum concentration of about 3 mg/ml provides a therapeutic effect. The maximum concentration in the blood is detected after 3 hours, and the therapeutic concentration is maintained for 18–24 hours. Doxycycline is excreted from the body, both in the form of metabolites and in an unchanged state, mainly with bile.

Dosage and method of administration

Broiler chickens and turkeys: treatment of poultry suffering from chronic respiratory diseases caused by O. rhinotracheale, P. multocida, M. synoviae susceptible to doxycycline.
Pigs: treatment of animals suffering from mycoplasmosis, syndrome MMA (mastitis-metritis-agalactia), as well as respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms (A. pleuropneumonia, B. bronchiseptica, P. multocida, M. hyopneumoniae) sensitive to doxycycline.

Used orally:

  • broiler chickens — 15–25 g of Doxypan 54 per 100 liters of drinking water, which is equal to 10 mg of doxycycline per 1 kg of body weight. Course of treatment —5 days;
  • turkeys — 40 g of Doxypan 54 per 100 l of drinking water, which is equal to 20 mg of doxycycline per 1 kg of body weight. Course of treatment —5 days;
  • pigs — 0.2 g of Doxypan 54 for every 10 kg of body weight equal to 10 mg of doxycycline per 1 kg of body weight. The course of treatment is — 5 days. If group therapy is carried out, the daily dose of the drug for animals is calculated according to the formula: (mg of the active substance /kg of body weight x average body weight of animals (kg) x number of animals) /total amount of water (liquid feed) per day (l) = mg of the active substance per 1 liter of drinking water/liquid feed.
