Composition

1 ml of the medicine contains the active substance: dexamethasone sodium phosphate — 2.64 mg.

Indications for use

The drug is used for the treatment of animals with non-infectious inflammatory processes as an auxiliary agent for acute infectious diseases in combination with appropriate antibacterial therapy, allergic condition, allergic skin damage, laminitis in horses and cattle, snake bites, metabolic pathological processes, toxemia of the last period of pregnancy in ruminants, stress and shock conditions.

Pharmacological properties

Dexamethasone — is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid whose anti-inflammatory effect is 30 times stronger than cortisone and 7–10 times stronger than prednisolone. The drug has anti-allergic, anti-prone, anti-stress effects.

Dosage

Intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous use (for dogs).

Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic doses:

• dogs, cats — 0.25–0.5 ml drug per 5 kg body weight;

• pigs, cattle, horses — 5–10 ml of the drug per 400 kg of body weight;

• sheep, goats, calves — 1–2 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight.

If necessary, repeat with a 2-day interval for dogs and cats and a 3–4–day interval for other animals. To initiate calving in cows (within 1 week before calf birth) — 2.5 ml per 100 kg body weight. For postpartum toxemia and to initiate pellet in sheep and goats — 6 ml per 50 kg of body weight. With anti-shock therapy, the drug is administered slowly intravenously up to 10 times in the calculation of the anti-inflammatory dose, if necessary, the dose is repeated after 8–12 hours.

Intra-articularly, the drug is used in doses (per animal):

• pigs, cattle, horses for large joints — 3–4 ml, for small — 1–2 ml;

• sheep, goats, large dogs for large joints — 1–2 ml, for small — 0.25–1 ml;

• small dogs, cats — 0.25–1 ml.

Withdrawal period

Meat for human food is given 14 days after treatment with the medicine, milk — after 2 days.

Contraindications

Do not use the drug in case of heart or kidney failure, hypercorticism (Cushing’s syndrome), diabetes, osteoporosis, viral infection, simultan vaccination. Do not use in pregnant ruminants if there is a risk of premature births.

Special precautions for use

With long-term therapy, gradual withdrawal from the drug is recommended. In case of suspicion or in the presence of a microbial infection, treatment is carried out together with appropriate antimicrobial therapy.

Shelf life

2 years. Dry, dark place, at a temperature of 15–25 °C.
